ECommerce is conducting a commercial transaction on the Internet. Amazon would be the first eCommerce company that comes to most people’s minds. Jeff Bezos who started Amazon, is now the richest person in history, so there is money to be made on-line.
The really great thing is; anyone can put up an eCommerce website and start making money. If you know what you’re doing, it’s not that hard, and it’s not that expensive to get started. Truthfully, the hardest part of the entire process, is deciding what you want to sell.
We use the WooCommerce platform to build eCommerce shopping cart websites. It integrates fully with WordPress, and offers Extensions, which are the same principle as WordPress plugins, that enable it do do pretty much anything you’d like your website to do.
They automate the shopping cart process, so that basically, all you have to do is fill the orders. There are Extensions that deal with inventory, billing, shipping, payments, email list, and so much more.
Once the website has been fully configured, all that needs to be done is the addition of products. There are various ways to add products. You can add them one at a time or you can use a spread sheet to import thousands at a pop.
If you can’t decide on one specific category of products, there are drop-ship companies that have virtually anything you can think of to sell. With drop-shipping you never actually carry any inventory. It is boxed and shipped from a distribute. WooCommerce has an extension to tie your website to their company, so that part also is automated.
Shopify is a stand-alone shopping cart platform. It is not WordPress, but functions similarly. We can create a Shopify website for you that will perform just like a WordPress eCommerce site. It can be optimized very much like WordPress, but the options are somewhat limited. However, if you already have a Shopify website, it would be a good thing to have up optimize it.
